About Me

Let’s Meet!

I was born in the metropolis of Beijing, nicknamed after the peony my grandfather was painting with Chinese ink wash the moment I entered this world. My grandfather passed away only a year after that peony bloomed, but I had always been acutely aware of a big energy bubbling through me.

For years, I had no name for this energy, and I poured it into medicine. In 2020, amidst the chaos of the early COVID-19 pandemic and my mother’s recent death, I finally allowed the big energy to guide me to pick up a paintbrush for the first time in over 20 years and have not looked back since.

I now split my time between practicing pediatric neurology, parenting our preschooler, writing, and painting. My paintings can be found at Jam on Hawthorne in Portland, and my literary works have been published in the New Yorker and North American Review.
